Snoopyhead I & II
Performance

1999
School of Fine Art, BIAD,
University of Central England in Birmingham.

A performance in which a small plastic head of the cartoon character Snoopy is used as a fetish in a process of contemplation, creation, reward and destruction.

Waring a paper mask of myself I use mushrooms as a divining device to assess the worth of artworks and marks. The process is shown below.

Divining Process
1. take resource
I take paper from wall (left)
2.concentration/contemplation
I think of Snoopyhead
3. creation/visualisation I draw Snoopyhead
4. placement of growth I put mushroom on drawing

5. observation of growth potential
I watch mushroom

6. judgement
I choose whether mushroom thinks drawing/Snoopyhead is good or bad

7. destruction/reward
If bad - I smash mushroom & rip up drawing. If good - I eat yogurt & jellies

8. collection of trophies I take good drawings and
stick to wall (right)
